While travelling through South America in 2004, we came across our first pair of Peruvian boots. We could instantly tell how high-quality the materials were and how meticulously they were made. We decided to bring these handcrafted shoes to the United States as a result of this.
Since 2010, Fortress has collaborated with family-owned and managed manufacturers and workshops to uphold the same high standards of quality and craftsmanship that initially inspired us in Peru more than a decade ago. We make every effort to ensure that the individuals who make our shoes have safe working conditions and are paid fairly.
Our shoes are no exception to Peru’s long history of producing high-quality, handcrafted items. We are proud of the people we work with and believe that the people who create our shoes are just as important as the people who buy them. For all of our shoemakers, we prioritize fair wages, gender fairness, and good working conditions. To produce shoes that are sophisticated, versatile, and will endure the test of time, we focus on traditional styles.
