Unexpected Early Morning Incident Causes Stir on Congress Avenue
A man was left injured early Monday morning in the city of Austin after choosing a commercial dumpster as his resting place. The unintended surprise came when the particular waste bin was emptied into a garbage truck in an early morning pick up, leaving the man with serious injuries.
Quick Response from Local Authorities
Cpt. Christa Stedman, the public information officer for Austin-Travis County EMS, noted the man was able to summon the strength to climb out of the trash, making his way on top of the garbage collection truck. Unfortunately, due to the injuries sustained from the event, getting down safely proved to be a challenge.
The emergency medics responded to the unpredictable scene at the 500 block of Congress Avenue just shy of 3:40 a.m., swiftly transporting the injured man to Dell Seton Medical Center.
