Austin Welcomes a New Culinary Adventure: Taqueria 10 de 10 Infuses Speakeasy Vibes with Northwestern Mexican Savory Delights

Austin Introduces Taqueria 10 de 10: A Fusion of Mexican Food and Speakeasy Atmosphere

Austin’s culinary scene is once again stirring with excitement, as the city welcomes its newest establishment. Offering respite from the hustle and bustle of city life, Taqueria 10 de 10 emerges as a unique gastronomic experience that combines both speakeasy and taqueria in the heart of downtown. The shop, situated within the chic ReyRey cocktail bar, offers Northwestern Mexican cuisine with an intriguing twist.

Taqueria 10 de 10’s Intriguing Concept: Speakeasy Meets Taqueria

Located in an intimate corner of the ReyRey cocktail bar, Taqueria 10 de 10 provides a refreshing take on traditional taquerias by integrating a speakeasy-style ambiance. Patrons locate the entrance through an alley behind the bar, adding a clandestine charm. Once inside, diners are greeted by decor reminiscent of Mexican markets, with white tile walls, Coca-Cola-logo embossed tables, and an open kitchen layout that fosters a direct relationship with the taqueros.

A Culinary Journey to Northwestern Mexico

Co-owners and brothers Raul and Luis Esquer, alongside business partner Roy Servan, faithfully bring the flavors of Northwestern Mexican cuisine to downtown Austin. With references to Baja, Tijuana, Sonora, and Sinaloa, the taqueria specializes in authentic eats.

The kitchen takes pride in its handcrafted tortillas – making both corn and flour versions in-house. Corn tortillas are processed with a Molina grinder, specially imported from Tlaxcala, while the flour tortillas feature the treasured Esquer family recipe.

Gastronomic delights such as al pastor tacos and quesadillas feature meat carved from a rotating trompo al pastor machine. Meanwhile, an open-fire grill perfectly prepares the succulent carne asada – a specialty not to be missed. The taqueria also revolves around the nopal cactus fruit, highlighting its versatility across the extensive menu.

A Flavorful Sanctuary for Nightlife Enthusiasts

The inspiration for Taqueria 10 de 10 sparked when meeting the individuals behind ReyRey and its sister establishments – Reina Rooftop and Epoca Roma. The idea was to create not only a unique dining experience but a place for bar and club goers. The taqueria’s unconventional setting and hours accommodate this very well, staying open until 2 a.m. on Saturday nights.

Taqueria 10 de 10, located at 206 Trinity St., welcomes all food enthusiasts eager to savor Northwestern Mexican cuisine while immersed in an authentic speakeasy vibe. Come and be part of this incredible culinary journey to Mexico – no passport required!
