Haraz Coffee House, Michigan’s Yemeni Cafe, Set to Brew in Austin, Texas

Haraz Coffee House Brings Yemeni Coffee Culture

The city of Austin, Texas is set to get a taste of Yemeni coffee culture, as Haraz Coffee House, a renowned Michigan-based coffee chain, is gearing up to open two new locations in town. The forthcoming cafes are expected to appear in the West Campus neighborhood at 500 West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and in Pflugerville at 801 West Wells Branch Parkway. While opening dates have not yet been announced, the city’s coffee lovers are eagerly anticipating the unique brewing experiences that await.

Unique Coffee Blend and Flavorful Menu

At the heart of Haraz Coffee House’s menu is its native Yemeni coffee, specially sourced from Haraz – a coffee-growing village located in the mountain range bearing the same name in Yemen. The specialty coffee menu includes uniquely spiced drinks brewed in Yemeni clay pots (jubani), such as the Harazi featuring coffee, cardamom, and cream, and the Sana’ani, a black coffee drink infused with cardamom. Additionally, the Rada’ai is a coffee blend featuring ginger and cardamom flavors.

Besides these signature coffee offerings, Haraz also has an impressive tea menu, featuring the Adeni Chai, in which black tea meets spices and cream, and a saffron-infused version of the same. The cafe also takes pride in serving up an array of espresso drinks, lattes (incorporating saffron and pistachio flavors), Turkish coffee, iced drinks, among others.

Sweets that Complement the Brews

To complement its distinctive beverages, Haraz also brings a delectable range of pastries to the table. From the alluring saffron-rose milk cake to the Bee Bites – a delightful combination of honey-drizzled bread and cream cheese filling, and even cheesecakes. Additionally, there’ll be an assortment of European- and Middle Eastern-inspired desserts to cater to diverse taste preferences.

A Community-Oriented Atmosphere

Haraz Coffee House is looking to foster a sense of community around the shared love for coffee and treats in its Austin locations, facilitating both dine-in and takeout services. The coffee chain was spawned by founder and CEO Hamzah Nasser in Dearborn, Michigan, in 2021, which has since rapidly grown to over 10 locations spread across five states, including Houston, Dallas, Irving, and Pearland in Texas, as well as California.

Expanding the brand across a myriad of cities and states is part of the agenda, with local franchisees Zeid Ayssa and Mufid Ghaleb helming the Austin outlets. As Austinites anticipate this new brewing experience, it becomes clear that the Texas capital is continuing to strengthen its position as a hotbed for diverse, global coffee cultures.
