Over the past year, mortgage rates have decreased from a peak of 7.79% in October 2022 to 6.35% in August 2023. This represents a decrease of 1.5 percentage points that effectively increases affordability. Buyers earning $100,000 annually can now consider homes priced between $288,000 and $317,000.
