If you think Austin’s dining scene has taken a break, think again! The city is buzzing with excitement as news spills out about new places to eat, unexpected closures, and even some festive fun. Let’s dive into the latest culinary happenings that have everyone chatting!
Introducing Ēma — Aba’s Newest Sister Restaurant!
Get ready to tickle your taste buds because the highly-anticipated sister restaurant of Aba is set to open in fall 2025! This new gem, known as Ä’ma, which means “mother” in Hebrew, will make its grand entrance at the Domain Northside (3120 Palm Way, Suite 170). Following the footsteps of Aba’s beloved pan-Mediterranean fare, Ä’ma will focus on a lighter and fresher style of cooking that celebrates the same rich flavors from the region. Having opened two locations in Chicago already, this will be its first spot in the Lone Star State. This project has been in the pipeline since 2019 and is finally about to become a reality!
Strangelove: Coffee Meets Wine
Next up, let’s talk about the exciting new venture from the folks at Small Victory. Laura Maddox and Josh Loving are set to launch their coffee and wine bar named Strangelove. They’re hosting some fun pop-ups to kick things off — you can catch them on December 19 at Small Victory and on December 21 at Figure 8 Coffee Purveyors. Expect house-roasted coffee beans, wines by the glass, and plenty of exclusive Strangelove merchandise. A soft opening for Strangelove is scheduled for after the New Year on East Cesar Chavez, so keep your eyes peeled for more details!
Sterrato Italian Specialties Lands at Still Austin Whiskey Co.
And that’s not all! The food scene continues to expand at Still Austin Whiskey Co., where they’ve welcomed the Italian food truck Sterrato as a resident. Known for its unique twist on Italian favorites, the menu features wood-fired pizzas, fresh pasta, and dishes infused with modern Asian influences. A standout item includes the ttok ala vodka—Korean rice cakes prepared with sauce. Oh, and if you’re a pizza lover, mark your calendar for $13 pizzas every Tuesday from noon to 9 pm!
