April 5, 2024, Austin, Texas – The forever cherishing ABC Kite Fest is back! The largest and longest-running festival of this kind, the annual festival, is happening on Sunday, April 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at Zilker Park. The family-friendly event, signifying the Spring season in Austin, is expected to see an influx of more than 50,000 bright and colorful kites soaring high in the sky.
The 2024 Kite Fest is packed with full day activities with something to cater to all the age groups and interests. Let’s dive into what the festival has to offer.
Beginning from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., presented by H-E-B, the highlight of the day – the community kite contest, offers participants to enter categories like “most unusual kite” and “highest angle kite.” The free-to-enter community contest boasts of the show-stealing ABC Kite Fest’s showcase, where globally acclaimed kite flyers flaunt their kite flying skills.
Sponsored by PNC Bank, the MossFest is hosted by the Moss Pieratt Foundation, celebrating the life of John “Moss” Pieratt, Jr., his love for music, and the happiness he shared. Set to be filled with music and joy, performers such as Barton Hills Choir, Justin Roberts, DiscoTex, and Mr. Will, will grace the fest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the heart of the Kids Club.
A special zone for younger attendees, presented by Texas Children’s, offering free bounce houses and myriad activities to keep kids engaged all day long. Pet lovers aren’t left behind with an off-leash pet playground within the festival presented by Austin Subaru featuring a three-ring jump and tunnel run. Don’t forget- rock climbing walls for human recreation too!
What’s a fest without mouth-watering food and refreshing drinks? Look forward to savoring local flavors from an array of food trucks and concession stands offering everything from Amy’s Ice Creams, JP’s Pancake Company, to Chi’Lantro BBQ.
For those enthusiasts looking for an exclusive experience, check out the High Flyer Club by Texas Mutual, offering a VIP hospitality experience including early entry into the festival, access to reserved parking, special food options, and a private air-conditioned restroom.
