In a downtown Austin bar, a tense situation unfolded last week. A man was arrested for allegedly trying to bring a loaded handgun into the establishment, also reportedly offering an employee a bribe to avoid a search.

Man Arrested: Details of the Incident

Around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, Corey Williams, aged 24, attempted to gain access to the Pour Choices Bar on East 6th Street. It was reported to the police that Williams refused to have his shoulder bag searched at a nearby bar, Thirsty’s, thereby raising suspicions. Notably, Williams also allegedly offered $20 to an employee to gain access without a search.

Upon noticing this suspicious behavior, a staff member flagged down a nearby officer, thereby averting what may have become a potentially disastrous event. Officers then observed Williams enter Pour Choices, which seemingly did not employ strict baggage checks.

Police approached Williams at the bar, whereupon further search, a loaded Sig P315 9mm handgun with 12 rounds was discovered in his shoulder bag. An extra magazine, with an additional 10 rounds, was also found on his person.
