Austin, Texas, is gearing up for exciting new travel options as Delta Airlines announces five new nonstop flights starting in spring 2025. The new routes, available for booking now, will offer Austinites more ways to escape for spring break or for any travel needs.
The expansion includes flights to Memphis, Tennessee, a route that the airline previously offered but is now making a return. In addition to Memphis, travelers can look forward to nonstop flights to four new destinations: Panama City and Tampa, Florida, San Francisco, California, and Indianapolis, Indiana. Each of these routes will operate once a day, every day, giving residents plenty of choices.
This launch marks a significant expansion for Delta at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), positioning the airline to potentially hold the second-largest market share at the airport based on daily departing flights. As of June 2024, American Airlines leads the market with 17.82%, followed by Delta with 13.78%, and Southwest Airlines significantly leading with 41.87%.
The city manager of Austin, T.C. Broadnax, expressed enthusiasm about the new routes, noting how this expansion reflects the city’s vibrant economy and growing community. “These five new flights will not only enhance connectivity for our residents and businesses but also contribute to Austin’s reputation as a premiere destination for travel and commerce,” he stated. His sentiments were echoed by Delta’s senior vice president of network planning, Joe Esposito, who highlighted the airline’s commitment to the area.
Passengers taking flights to Panama City, Indianapolis, and Memphis will board Embraer 175s operated by SkyWest. In contrast, those heading to San Francisco and Tampa can look forward to flying on an Airbus 220-300, which will feature complimentary wifi during the flight. This variety in aircraft ensures comfort and connectivity while traveling.
Travelers can now book their tickets directly through Delta’s website, with plans already being set for trips commencing this spring. More than 55 peak-day departures are aimed for summer 2025, further showcasing Delta’s commitment to expanding its offerings in Austin.
In addition to the airline news, Fredericksburg, Texas, is buzzing with excitement about the upcoming opening of the Albert Hotel. This long-awaited luxury destination will begin accepting reservations starting October 2, 2024, for stays from January 3, 2025, and beyond.
Situated right in the town’s historic shopping and entertainment district, the Albert Hotel aims to provide a peaceful escape while reflecting the area’s unique heritage. The hotel not only honors Fredericksburg’s history but also features culinary concepts by the acclaimed Austin-based chef Michael Fojtasek.
Designed by the Austin firm Clayton Korte, the Albert Hotel incorporates elements from its historic surroundings, including limestone facades and local flavors in its culinary offerings. The hotel is based on the legacy of Albert Keidel, the town’s first doctor and judge who arrived in Fredericksburg in 1847. The establishment is a renovation of historic buildings, offering a total of 105 guest rooms along with various dining options.
While some dining venues are already open, including The Saloon and The Pharmacy, the full dining experience will be available with the opening of the restaurant at the hotel in January 2025. Guests can anticipate seasonal dishes crafted from local ingredients, ensuring a truly Texas culinary experience.
Another dining spot, Junebugs, focusing on barbecue will follow suit in March 2025, led by the hotel’s Head of Food and Beverage, Justin Spencer. The hotel promises a well-rounded experience with its full-service spa, landscaped grounds, and beautiful pool area.
For those eager to explore Fredericksburg and enjoy luxury accommodations, reservations are now open at alberthotel.com, setting the stage for more exciting travel opportunities in the region.
