Austin, Texas – Elon Musk, the well-known founder of SpaceX and Tesla, is not just making headlines with innovative technology, but also in personal life decisions that impact his family. Recently, it’s come to light that Musk has purchased two large mansions in Austin, expanding his presence in the Lone Star State as he aims to create a family-friendly environment for his children.
Musk has a growing investment in Texas, with several of his companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, based there. His latest real estate moves involve a 14,400-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion and a six-bedroom home right behind it, which together are reported to have cost around $35 million. This decision appears to be part of Musk’s effort to establish a permanent family compound in Austin, as he also stays at another nearby mansion, just a quick ten-minute walk away. This setup allows him to keep his children close by, as he has at least 11 children from various relationships.
Musk’s approach to family is quite complex. His relationship with singer and musician Grimes, known as Claire Boucher, has led to three children. However, she is currently not residing in the compound due to ongoing legal disputes. On a more positive note, Shivon Zilis, an executive at Musk’s company Neuralink and the mother of three of his children, has already settled into one of the newly acquired houses.
Interestingly, Musk has expressed a desire to bring two of the mothers of his children to Austin, with the hope that the younger kids can spend time together. As it stands, his five oldest children live elsewhere, along with his first wife, Justine Wilson.
Musk has shown a growing concern about declining birth rates and has openly shared his thoughts on wanting to have more children. He has not hesitated to publicly encourage others to have larger families too. Recently, he even made headlines with a joking post where he offered to have a child with singer Taylor Swift, although this was met with mixed reactions. Those close to Musk have indicated that this comment might not have been entirely a joke.
His commitment to improving fertility and understanding population trends is reflected in a $10 million donation from the Musk Foundation to the University of Texas in 2021. This financial contribution underscores his seriousness about this personal agenda.
While family matters occupy Musk’s mind, his business ventures remain a priority in Texas. Tesla has been investing significantly in its facilities in the area, while SpaceX continues to expand operations in Boca Chica. This dual focus on both family and business makes Texas a central hub for Musk’s life activities.
As Musk navigates through family complexities and business expansions, it’s clear he is trying to create a stable environment for his children. The combination of large homes, proximity, and financial investments suggests a deep commitment to family values, even as he continues to lead high-profile tech companies.
In essence, Austin is becoming more than just a workplace for Musk; it is transforming into a family base where he hopes to foster relationships and provide his children with a nurturing setting. As the tech tycoon plans for the future, how he balances this ambitious personal and professional journey remains to be seen.
