Austin Welcomes The Flower Shop: A New Dining Experience Launches

Austin, Texas, is set to welcome a new culinary destination as The Flower Shop makes its debut in the city on Thursday, October 10. Located at 1300 E. 7th Street in East Austin, this popular bar and restaurant has transformed a historic building that dates back to 1922. This building was once the home of Tony’s Tortillas, one of Texas’s first tortilla factories, and it still boasts its original water tower. Most recently, it was home to the gluten-free restaurant Wilder Wood.

A Vision to Bring Cozy Dining to Austin

The Flower Shop was co-founded by Ronnie Flynn and Dylan Hales, who started as friends and became business partners. Their vision was to create a go-to spot that combines classic pub culture with elements of Midwest-style diners. They aimed to fill a gap they saw in the Austin dining scene by designing a welcoming and relaxing space reminiscent of their experiences at popular venues in New York City.

To help them bring this vision to life, Flynn and Hales collaborated with Fox Fox Studios, a local design firm. In the renovation process, they made sure to preserve the building’s original sandstone facade while integrating design elements from the 1960s to 1980s. The layout includes a first-floor main dining room with a cozy, floral-upholstered cocktail area, diner-style seating, and even an outdoor beer garden for those who enjoy dining al fresco.

Two Floors of Comfort and Style

For those wanting a more private experience, the second floor features a special private bar designed to evoke a mid-century hotel poolside vibe. It is adorned with vibrant outdoor furniture and umbrellas, creating a perfect hangout spot for evenings with friends.

A Menu That Combines Comfort with Creativity

The menu at The Flower Shop Austin closely resembles its New York counterpart but offers its unique twist on classic comfort food. Patrons can dig into delicious dishes featuring oysters served with a delicate yuzu mignonette, savory deviled eggs topped with sesame seeds and wasabi, and creamy crab linguini. For those craving bar staples, options include mouth-watering chicken wings tossed in Frank’s Red Hot sauce, classic fish and chips with mushy peas, and the fun “party pie,” a traditional Australian meat pie.

Refreshing Drink Options

The beverage menu is just as impressive, featuring creative cocktails designed to delight. Highlights include the “Harry Styles,” made with mezcal, Aperol, and watermelon, and the “Pirate Rose,” combining vodka, pomegranate, and rose water. To round out your meal, there is a curated selection of wines by the glass and local beers to choose from.

Open for Business

The Flower Shop Austin will be open daily from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.. This new establishment offers an exciting dining and social experience just two miles from downtown Austin.
