Austin Man Receives Lengthy Sentence for Drug Trafficking
An Austin man, 61-year-old William Augustus Bryant, has been handed a significant 40-year sentence in prison and a fine of $10,000 for manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance. The pronouncement made by the judicial panel in Williamson County is a culmination of charges stemming from an investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Bryant acknowledged his guilt in relation to these hefty charges, which surfaced following the detection of the potent opioid fentanyl in his vehicle. This discovery was made on July 15, 2023, during a routine traffic stop undertaken by DPS officers.
An Array of Narcotics and Firearms Seized
The initial in-traffic discovery prompted a follow-up search of Bryant’s residential premises. The ensuing search proved fruitful, revealing an array of narcotics ranging from cocaine, to methamphetamine, fentanyl, mushrooms, to marijuana.
