Now, for the moment everyone has been waiting for—the winners of this year’s Austin Music Poll will be announced in the February 22, 2024 issue of the Austin Chronicle! But it doesn’t stop there; you can join the festivities at the Austin Music Awards on March 2, 2024. This year’s show will be held at the legendary Antone’s Nightclub, marking a fun first for this cherished event.

What’s even better? All ticket proceeds from the awards show will go to the SIMS Foundation, which helps provide essential mental health and substance use recovery services to musicians and industry professionals in Austin.

A Tradition of Excellence

The Austin Music Poll has been a beloved tradition since its inception on December 18, 1981. Over the years, the format has evolved to better celebrate the diversity and talent within our music community. This year, the ballot will feature a single-round, multiple-choice format to encourage a richer variety of nominations.

Exciting New Awards

The Austin Music Awards are not just about handing out trophies; they also include thrilling live performances! This time around, expect fewer speeches and more live music to keep the energy buzzing throughout the event. Notable nominees include bands like Being Dead and Die Spitz, as well as talented musicians such as Ben Kweller and S.L. Houser.

In addition, the inaugural Zev Award has been established to honor Ben Kweller’s late son, Dorian, providing a $2,000 grant to support young local artists—a beautiful way to give back to the community while encouraging new talent.

Celebrate Our Scene!

The Austin Music Poll is a fantastic opportunity to take a snapshot of our flourishing music scene, which has grown immensely over the past four decades. This year’s awards also spotlight categories like Best Record Store, Best Live Music Venue, and Best Music Nonprofit. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and vote to help your favorite artists shine!
