Austin Police Issue AMBER Alert for Missing Children

AUSTIN, Texas – An AMBER Alert that was issued for three missing children has been canceled. Thankfully, officials announced that all three children were found safe.

On Monday, Oct. 14, the Austin police reported they were actively searching for 10-year-old Ninel Anseume Sayas, 4-year-old Abraham Anseume, and 2-year-old Elsi Anseume. These children were reported missing after they were last seen on Sunday, Oct. 13, around 5 p.m. in the area of the 100 block of Palma Circle.

Connection to Suspected Abductor

As the search unfolded, authorities identified a suspect in connection to the abduction of the children. They were looking for Sherles Machado Hernandez, 31 years old. The police described a vehicle associated with him as a 2019 silver Mitsubishi Outlander with the Texas license plate TWL 2922.

Officials warned that Hernandez should be considered armed and dangerous, prompting public awareness for any sightings of him. The situation escalated when it was revealed that Hernandez is also suspected in a tragic double murder that occurred on the same day in Southeast Austin. Two victims, a man, and a woman, were found dead, and it was confirmed that the deceased woman was the mother of the three missing children.

Children Found Safe

About an hour and a half after the AMBER Alert was issued, the Austin police announced that the three children were located safely. The quick response from law enforcement and community involvement played a crucial role in ensuring their safety.

While the news about the children was a relief, the search for Hernandez continued. Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to his capture. If you see him, police advise not to approach and to call 911 immediately.

The Tragic Context

This incident has shaken the local community, not only due to the abduction but also because of the violent background involving the children’s mother. The investigation into the double murder is ongoing, and police are following leads to apprehend Hernandez, who remains at large.

Community members are urged to come forward if they have any information regarding Hernandez’s whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding this troubling case.

Conclusion

Parents and residents in Austin are thankful for the swift action taken by the police that led to the safe recovery of the children. The ongoing situation serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that law enforcement faces in protecting vulnerable individuals and the importance of vigilance in the community.

For those with information, authorities have made it clear that any tips can help bring an end to this alarming chapter for the city. The Austin Police Department remains committed to resolving this case.
