After several months of investigation, The Austin Police Department (APD) continues to seek public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted sexual assault incident in northwest Austin. The incident reportedly took place on the night of Saturday, March 30 near TX-45 off Osmarea Drive.
The victim, a female resident of the area, was walking her dog at approximately 9 p.m. when she encountered an unidentified male suspect. The suspect then allegedly exposed himself and attempted to commit sexual assault before fleeing the scene on foot towards Eucalyptus Bend, according to reports from law enforcement.
The APD has released a composite sketch of the suspect, described as a black male between the ages of 17 and 25. He is described as relatively shorter in height, about 5’6″ with a thin build.
On the night of the event, the suspect was reported to be wearing a beanie hat and glasses. He was also wearing a light-colored t-shirt and dark basketball shorts. The police department urged anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation.
To aid in the identification and arrest of the suspect, the APD is urging members of the public to carefully review the provided composite sketch and consider any suspicious individuals fitting the description. Any information related to the suspect’s whereabouts or possible identity could be pivotal in solving the case.
People with potentially useful information about the incident have been asked to contact Detective William Chung via his phone number 512-974-4474 or by sending an email to his official account William.chung@austintexas.gov.
The APD also reminded Austin residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities in the area. They added that practicing basic safety protocols such as traveling in groups during late hours and staying in well-lit areas can deter potential criminals and ensure their safety.
In the ongoing fight against crime, your assistance and cooperation can make a huge difference. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and help keep Austin a secure and friendly space for all its residents!
