AUSTIN — The Austin Police Department is currently investigating a robbery that took place on Thursday evening in east Austin. As detectives work to gather more information, they are searching for two suspects believed to be involved in this unsettling incident.
The robbery occurred around 9:05 p.m. at an apartment complex located at 5001 Crainway Drive. According to police reports, the victim was approached by the suspects at gunpoint. The robbers then forced the victim into their own apartment as they attempted to steal personal belongings.
Authorities have released descriptions of both suspects to help the public assist in the investigation. The first suspect is described as an 18 or 19-year-old Black man with a skinny build. At the time of the robbery, he was seen wearing a black hoodie that had white writing on the back and a blue face mask.
The second suspect is also an 18 or 19-year-old Black man with a skinny build. He was described as wearing a gray hoodie, a red and white mask, and blue jeans with rips.
The Austin Police Department is urging anyone who might have information to come forward. People who have any tips or leads regarding the suspects are asked to contact the robbery unit at 512-974-5092. As an incentive, there may be a reward of up to $1,000 available for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Community members are encouraged to help police secure safety in their neighborhoods by reporting anything they might know.
