Austin’s Sushi Scene Set to Flourish with Sushi | Bar’s New Downtown Location and Cocktail Lounge

Austin’s Sushi Scene Just Got an Upgrade!

Hey there, Austin! Exciting news is swirling around the sushi scene in our vibrant city! If you’ve been dreaming of an elevated dining experience featuring fresh sushi and delightful cocktails, your culinary wishes are about to come true. The renowned Sushi | Bar Austin, famous for its omakase offerings, is gearing up for a big move right into downtown!

The Big Move

Sushi | Bar is making its journey from its current location at 2600 E. Cesar Chavez St. to 419 West 2nd St. This new spot, only just two miles away, puts them right across from local favorites like Local Foods, Numero28, and the Violet Crown Cinema. So, whether you’re heading out for a catch-up with friends or a movie night, Sushi | Bar will be perfectly situated for a delicious meal!

More Seats, More Reservations

Currently, this elegant sushi counter has garnered a reputation for its intimate setting, with only 10 seats available for reservations. But fear not, sushi lovers! With the move to the new venue, the seating capacity is doubling with two rooms that each seat 12 guests. That means more sushi for everyone, as you’ll now have a better chance of snagging a reservation for their exquisite 17-course tasting menu. Can you picture it? Savoring seasonal nigiri crafted with sushi skills from around the world—imported ingredients from Japan, New Zealand, and California!

Say Hello to Golden Ace

But wait, there’s more! The new location will also feature a cocktail lounge called Golden Ace set to debut in January 2025. Inspired directly by customer feedback, Golden Ace will have its own unique atmosphere and will host between 35-40 guests. The cocktail program will be helmed by the talented Christian “Suzu” Suzuki-Orellana, distinguished for his recent appearances on the Netflix competition show Drink Masters. He’ll be teaming up with partner Brett Esler, who co-founded renowned spots like Murray’s Tavern!

Expect to sip on “elevated yet approachable cocktails” infused with Japanese elements—pushing the boundaries of both tradition and modern mixology.

Designed for an Elevated Experience

Ryan Stock, co-founder of Adept Hospitality, the group behind Sushi | Bar, expressed his excitement about the new location, emphasizing its premium experience. “We’re thrilled to bring our elevated omakase experience to such a vibrant area,” Stock said. The new space will be approximately 1,400 square feet—bigger than the current space of 1,100 square feet—all designed to enhance the customer experience.

Collaborating with Icons

A delicious twist to this upgrade is Sushi | Bar’s exciting collaboration with the family behind Terry Black’s BBQ. It seems that a mutual admiration for each other’s culinary arts led to this intriguing partnership. Although details on this collaboration are still under wraps, it hints at a beautiful blend of BBQ and sushi—how mouth-watering does that sound?

Mark Your Calendars!

For those keen to experience this sushi wonderland upon its opening, be sure to bookmark the first of every month. That’s when reservations will open for booking. You won’t want to miss this chance to dive into a 17-course culinary journey, all while sipping amazing cocktails in an atmosphere that’s bound to impress!

In Conclusion

With more seating, an exclusive cocktail section, and an exciting new location, Sushi | Bar is certainly positioning itself to be a favorite in downtown Austin. The buzz around this move has sushi enthusiasts eagerly waiting for the grand unveiling in 2025. Keep your eyes peeled—Sushi | Bar is redefining how we enjoy sushi in the heart of our beloved city!
