AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin officially swore in its new Police Chief Lisa Davis during a ceremony held at City Hall this morning. Additionally, when asked about the recent trial and conviction of former Austin Police Officer Christopher Taylor, who was involved in a controversial incident, Davis acknowledged the concern it has caused among both officers and the community. “It’s unsettling to the officers. It’s unsettling to the community. It’s a big deal to them, and they want to hear the support. They want to hear how we move beyond that,” she noted.

The ceremony was attended by key city leaders including Austin City Manager TC Broadnax and Austin Mayor Kirk Watson. Mayor Watson expressed his confidence in Davis as the right leader to guide the department through this transformative period. “While we count on you, we have confidence that you are the leader we need to move us forward,” he said during his remarks.
