Austin Trail of Lights Opens Registration for Festive Fun Run

Austin Trail of Lights Fun Run Anticipates Bright Turnout

The eagerly awaited Austin Trail of Lights Fun Run is back! Festive runners all over Austin are dusting off their Christmas-themed sneakers and decking themselves out in holiday cheer as they prepare to run a delightful two-mile course across Zilker Park on December 7.

Deck the Trail with Miles of Smiles

The route, which is a favorite amongst Austinites, weaves through the iconic Zilker Holiday Tree and all the way into the Austin Trail of Lights. This year’s event marks the 13th occurrence of the yuletide tradition, which has become an integral part of Austin’s holiday spectacle.

More than Just a Run – A Cause for Celebration

The Austin Trail of Lights organizers, in collaboration with Chuy’s — the event’s title sponsor — are inviting participants to join in their charitable endeavor, Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Toy Drive. To participate, runners need to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the drive either at the event or at the designated Chuy’s locations before early December.

Monetary donations are also welcome and can be made online. All donated toys and monetary contributions are given to Operation Blue Santa, a local non-profit organization dedicated to helping financially struggling families enjoy the magic of Christmas by providing them with gifts and food during the festive season.

Join The Festivities

Registration for the event goes for a minimum of $30. By signing up, participants will receive a fun run t-shirt, a race bib, a choice between complimentary beer or hot cocoa and an opportunity to snap a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Fun Run then rounds off with a finish-line festival that promises rides, food trucks, bars, and festive music. Since the run is untimed, participants can take their time to enjoy the trail of lights, giving the event a uniquely casual and festive atmosphere. The run will commence in multiple waves that will start at 5:45 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 7:45 p.m.

For more information about the event and the community run, interested parties can visit their website.
