Bay City Native That Mexican OT Makes Waves at Austin City Limits Festival

Bay City Native That Mexican OT Thrives at Austin City Limits

Bay City, Texas – In recent years, the local rap scene has seen a vibrant new addition in Virgil René Gazca, known to fans as That Mexican Outta Texas (OT). Despite being relatively new to the world of fame, OT has carved out a recognizable persona and garnered a loyal fan base. His presence was strongly felt at the recent Austin City Limits (ACL) festival, where he took the stage for the first time.

Excitement Over Representation

The Daily Texan caught up with OT just a few hours before his performance during ACL weekend two. When asked about representing Bay City and Houston while at the festival, OT expressed a refreshing straightforwardness. He said, “I don’t give a damn about that — I care about being here and growing. I’m excited to meet with new fans. I’m excited to go up there and do what I like to do.”

For OT, the focus is on personal growth rather than simply being a representative of his hometown. “It’s about being me and representing me. Just Virgil,” he emphasized, highlighting his individuality in a bustling festival atmosphere.

No Festivals, Just His Own Shows

When asked why he may not care about the ACL experience, OT shared his preference for more intimate gatherings. “I’d rather just be at my own shows where I can be selfish with the crowd. (Here,) they all at a festival, so there’s a mixture of everything,” he explained. The young rapper admitted his desire to keep things relaxed, stating, “I’d rather be asleep right now… I’d rather be on my four-wheeler right now.”

Growing Relationships in Music

As his career in music has advanced, OT noted a blossoming of his friendships. “It’s been great. I love them for sure. We was already close and shit, but now we’re not just bullshitting and having fun together no more. We’re learning shit, and we’re gaining shit together,” he said, showcasing a deep appreciation for his friends and collaborators.

OT also touched on his learning experiences concerning finance as he transitioned into a more lucrative career. “I’m still new to having a fuckload of money. I go to the bank and I learn this shit, I come back and I’m like, ‘Hey, this how we do it,’” he described. The bond he shares with his friends extends beyond music, as they navigate their newfound success together.

Future Business Ventures

Having recently found financial success, OT is eager to invest his earnings into new opportunities. “I got two nail salons I’m finna be opening up (in Austin and Houston called V’s Nails),” he revealed. Many might wonder why he is drawn to this industry, and OT explained his reasoning candidly.

“When I was hungry, I would think, ‘What is a place that I would rob?’ And it was a nail salon,” he shared humorously. This past experience shaped his decision to start a business in this field. “So I was like ‘Fuck it, might as well make a lot of money with them,” he continued. OT’s admiration for women also plays a role in his business venture. “I love women. Women make this world go around. I’m big fans of them, so I appreciate being around them all day and enjoying their time and their energy. And they’re paying me? Come on,” he concluded.

Conclusion

As That Mexican Outta Texas continues to grow both as an artist and a business owner, his journey is just beginning. With a unique outlook on fame, friendships, and future plans, OT is undoubtedly one to watch in the ever-evolving music industry. From Bay City to festival stages, his story is just getting started.
