In a highly anticipated event, the Tex-Mex supergroup, Los Super Seven, is all set to headline “A Concert For Democracy”, a benefit show to be held at Radio/East in Austin, Texas on Friday, 24th May. Notorious for their eclectic fusion of rock, country, folk, Tejano, Mexican son, and conjunto music, Los Super Seven will be performing to raise funds for Texas Turnout, a nonpartisan voter registration organization.
Comprising members from the revered Latin rock band Los Lobos – Cesar Rosas, David Hidalgo, and Steve Berlin, Los Super Seven is expected to set the stage on fire. Other musicians who will join this noble cause include Texas Country music star, Rick Treviño, “El Gato Negro” Ruben Ramos, Grammy-winning Tejano band Los Texmaniacs, and Money Chicha, which features members from the Grammy-winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma and funk outfit Brownout. The upcoming local favorite band, The Tiarras, a powerful trio of sisters, will also charm the audience with their diverse music palette consisting of rock, Latin, pop, soul, reggae, and blues.
In addition to this, the concert is said to welcome John Doe, Carrie Rodriguez, and Rosie Flores – legends from Austin’s music scene, as special guests. With just few days until the concert, the audience is also hoping for surprise guests adding to the excitement.
The tickets range from $15, targeted towards students, to a VIP level of $250, which provides attendees with free food, drinks, and an opportunity to meet and greet with the artists. The funds raised from the event will go to a non-profit, nonpartisan initiative “The Good Deed Corps” under their Texas Turnout campaign. The initiative focuses on increasing youth voter turnout in under-resourced communities throughout the Texas Rio Grande Valley.
Saying a few words about the event, Steve Berlin, a member of Los Super Seven, said, “On behalf of Los Lobos and Los Super Seven, we are delighted to be part of A Concert for Democracy. There’s nothing better than enjoying a great night of fantastic music while doing our part to support voting rights in Texas. It’s great to be able to get the band back together one more time in support of such a hugely important cause.”
Tickets for “A Concert for Democracy” are on sale and can be readily purchased. The venue for the event, Radio/East, is situated at 3504 Montopolis Dr., Austin, Texas 78744. The doors will be open from 7:00 pm, with the event scheduled from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm. Seize this opportunity to enjoy a musical extravaganza while contributing to a noble cause.
