Austin, Texas — Prominent community leader, former city commissioner, and lifetime resident Carmen Llanes Pulido has declared her candidacy for the office of Mayor of Austin. Pulido filed her official paperwork last Friday, marking her formal entrance into the race.
In a display of communal support and celebration of her bid, a public gathering took place this past Sunday. The event was graced by local music prodigies and community leaders at the Far Out Lounge & Stage, an upbeat, popular venue in the city. On hand to support Pulido was Anne-Charlotte Patterson, known for her role as the vice chair of the Austin Music Commission.
A grinning and optimistic Pulido stated, “I have been asked by hundreds of Austinites all over the city – North, South, East, and West – to step up for this position and bring accountability, transparency and real community-drive leadership to city hall”. She also expressed that she felt an outpour of support and radical hope upon announcing her candidacy, voicing that she sees this enthusiasm as crucial to the city’s vitality.
