Austin Concert Postponed: Childish Gambino’s Tour on Hold

Austin Concert Postponed: Childish Gambino’s Tour on Hold

AUSTIN — Fans eagerly awaiting the Childish Gambino concert at the Moody Center Tuesday night will have to wait a little longer. Donald Glover, the artist behind the popular stage name, announced on social media Monday that he is postponing the rest of his North American tour. This decision comes just a day before he was scheduled to perform in Austin.

Announcement Details

In a post on X, Glover shared the news that he needs to “focus on his physical health for a few weeks.” While he did not go into specifics about his health issues, he made it clear that he intends to honor all previously purchased tickets when the shows are rescheduled.

“Hey everyone. Unfortunately, I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks,” Glover wrote. He encouraged fans to “hold onto your tickets,” emphasizing that all tickets will be valid for the upcoming dates once they are set. He also expressed gratitude for the understanding and support from his fanbase.

Tour Background

The North American tour, titled “The New World Tour”, marked Glover’s first tour in five years and is anticipated to be his last under the Childish Gambino name. Glover had announced the tour earlier this year after the surprise release of his new project, “ATAVISTA”, a reworked version of an album demo. The opening act for the tour is Willow Smith, who performs under her stage name, Willow.

The tour was well underway, with Glover having completed more than half of the scheduled North American dates before this recent postponement. As for the international portion of the tour, those dates still remain unchanged with the tour set to continue on October 31.

Impact on Fans

The mood in Austin is a mix of disappointment and understanding. Fans who were looking forward to the show have shared their feelings online, many expressing concern for Glover’s health while also expressing hope that the concert will be rescheduled soon. As of now, neither Glover nor the concert venue has provided clear information on when the shows will take place.

The Moody Center took to social media to confirm Glover’s statement, reiterating that all tickets will be honored for the rescheduled concert date. Ticketmaster also updated its website, marking the remaining events as “postponed.” However, it remains unclear if fans will have the option to receive refunds for their tickets.

What’s Next?

As the news spreads, many fans are left wondering how long they might have to wait for new dates. The buzz continues on social media, as concertgoers share their thoughts around the unexpected turn of events.

In conclusion, while the postponement is disappointing, it’s clear that Glover is prioritizing his health. This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of well-being, even in the fast-paced world of entertainment. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further announcements regarding the rescheduled dates and continue to support Glover during this time.
