Wellness enthusiasts in Austin, get ready to soak in some serious relaxation! It’s official: come fall 2025, the city will welcome its very own elevated community bathhouse named Bathe Austin. This innovative haven is set to change how locals think about wellness and social interaction.
Bathe Austin promises not just your average spa experience; it’s steeped in a philosophy that intertwines relaxation, community, and holistic well-being. Forget what you know about traditional spas, as this place is being touted as an “anti-spa.” With its affordable pricing and vibrant atmosphere, Bathe Austin is designed to engage the senses with a range of unique features.
Imagine sipping on refreshing elixirs while soaking in in-ground salted mineral pools! This will be the reality for guests, who will also enjoy a massive dry sauna large enough to accommodate over 30 people, a multi-person cold plunge, and a soothing eucalyptus steam room. Plus, don’t miss out on the salt therapy cave, where guests can benefit from halotherapy surrounded by Himalayan salt bricks.
The heart and soul of Bathe Austin come from co-founders Danyl and Lisa Magick. Danyl’s journey began when he left his corporate job for a sabbatical in 2022 that took him around the globe. After attending a psychedelic dream mastermind workshop, he realized his true calling was to create a bathhouse in Austin. Shortly after, he met Lisa, a former attorney, who had transitioned to van life following personal challenges. Together, their shared vision blossomed into a sanctuary that combines wellness with vibrant social connections.
Transforming a former auto body shop at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Cesar Chavez Street, the duo has created a unique ambiance that Lisa describes as an “industrial forest.” Expect lush greenery as you step into the sprawling two-story space where guests can wear bathing suits and mingle freely.
Bathe Austin isn’t just about relaxation; it’s also a gathering place. The bathhouse will double as a social club in the evenings and weekends, hosting exciting events, guest DJs, and lots of opportunities to connect in a fun, booze-free environment. Customers are encouraged to leave their cell phones behind, as cell use will be restricted to the coworking area.
“We just want to provide a place for people to connect that’s not food-based or alcohol-based,” Lisa mentions, likening the energy to “a Barton Springs indoors.”
Let’s talk a bit about the standout features that Bathe Austin will offer:
While Bathe Austin’s grand opening is slated for fall 2025, there are plans to activate a 3,000-square-foot outdoor area with saunas and cold plunges beginning this winter. So, be on the lookout, wellness lovers! You can find more details about this engaging new concept on their website or Instagram page. Get ready to relax, rejuvenate, and re-connect in a truly magical setting!
