Austin’s sky was enlivened Tuesday evening, as three hundred drones dotted city’s skyline creating a galaxy-themed spectacle, marking a first in the city’s history. The large-scale public display was a part of the CoinDesk Consensus 2024 event.
The drone show, operated by Sky Elements – a leading drone show provider in the U.S, was the result of the meticulous partnership with the city of Austin. Organizing such a grand drone display required comprehensive coordination with multiple city departments for an seamless, captivating performance. Witnessing the extraordinary show from the Mayfair Rooftop, Austin.com confirmed the stellar spectacle to be an out-of-world experience.
Forbes Web3 and TakeOver hosted the event which offered the over 1,500 attendees of the conference a unique experience beyond the bounds of a regular party. Developed in 2022, TakeOver stands out in terms of community development by providing dynamic, tailor-made experiences that are creative, thoughtful and developed in collaboration with local vendors.
Austin city residents who saw the electrifying light show can attest to witnessing what appeared to be UFOs in Austin’s atmosphere. Despite the uncanny resemblance, it was no ‘Independence Day’ when the drone spectacle took the sky. The Austin takeover was supported by Delta Blockchain Fund, Shrapnel, Mutant Labs, Metaplex, and Steady Stack. The event served as an unusual marketing effort, representing an innovative approach developed in collaboration with AI and digital identity management firm, Galxe.
Shahreen “Katz” Ahmed, the founder of TakeOver, in her interview with Austin.com said, “We’re breaking our own standards and forming new ones. When people come to our event, they’re not just attending another party – they’re experiencing something unique. Our objective is to create a social club where people can truly relish the experience.”
Katz displayed her gratitude over the event’s success, stating, “This is my first Consensus conference and TakeOver event in Austin. Collaborating with local vendors and city officials has been an amazing experience. Austin possesses a strong and welcoming culture. The locals are builders and go-getters, and we couldn’t have picked a better city for our first statewide event.”
Following the Consensus 2024 conference, TakeOver and Forbes Web3 will continue to bring their unique events to NSCC in Cleveland, VeeCon in Los Angeles, Comic Con in New York and Art Basel in Miami.
