Austin – In a tragic incident that has devastated a family and shocked a community, local teenager Sienna Rae Contreras lost her life from a fentanyl overdose, just two months before her 18th birthday. Her father, Carlos Contreras, who shared Sienna’s story with the public, hopes to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
On the night of April 12, unaware of the tragedy that was about to strike, Carlos wished his daughter goodnight and looked forward to a planned road trip the following day. But his world came crashing down when he discovered Sienna in an unresponsive state the next morning. A subsequent police investigation revealed Sienna’s unexpected teen overdose resulted from fentanyl consumption.
The Austin Police Department arrested Xavier Buentello, accusing him of selling fentanyl to Sienna Rae and causing her death. He now faces charges of first-degree murder. The Contreras family, while mourning their profound loss, expressed bittersweet feelings about the development.
Family members described Sienna Rae as a creative, funny, and loyal individual, adored by her friends. She had added countless memorable moments to their lives with her unique humor and outspoken personality. Her untimely departure has deeply scarred all who knew her, and her absence has left her family and friends reeling from shock and despair.
Carlos described Sienna’s death by fentanyl overdose as his worst fears realized. He had persistently shared news about the hazards of drug experimentation and lethal overdoses in the hopes of shielding his daughter from such a disaster. Tragically, his efforts and warnings could not prevent the catastrophe.
In the wake of his deep sorrow, Carlos hopes that by sharing Sienna Rae’s story, he can make others aware of the seriousness of drug abuse and possibly save lives. He emphasized the sobering fact that one pill can indeed kill, urging young people to learn from Sienna’s experience and avoid putting their lives at risk in this devastating manner.
