Man Charged with Family Violence Assault Following Austin SWAT Standoff

AUSTIN, TEXAS

In an early morning encounter that lasted for hours, a man was arrested and charged for family violence assault after allegedly barricading himself in a residential area in East Austin, according to authorities.

An Early Morning Disturbance Call

Officer response was prompted by what was initially reported as a disturbance hotshot call at around 3:30 a.m. Austin Police Department (APD) responded to the residence in question located at the 1300 block of Ludlow Terrace.

The Barricade Situation

The suspect reportedly barricaded himself inside a house resulting in a tense standoff that engaged the APD and the SWAT team, with the latter arriving at the premises soon after the initial police response. Arrested after allegedly refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, the man held the SWAT team on standby for approximately three hours.

Resolution and Arrest

Upon the arrival of the SWAT officers, the suspect emerged from the house and surrendered. He was apprehended at around 6:40 a.m, successfully resolving the standoff without any further incident.

Charges And Public Safety

The man is now facing charges on grounds of family violence assault. Despite the alarming situation that escalated over the early hours this morning, the APD assures the public that this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.
