Fredericksburg High School Track Stars Soar to New Heights!

Well, folks, Fredericksburg is buzzing with excitement as our high school track and field teams have definitely made their mark at two major events this season! Let’s dive right into the action, shall we?

George Stenberg Sets the Track on Fire!

First up, let’s talk about our very own George Stenberg. He recently gave us all something to cheer about at the illustrious Texas Relays, which took place at the University of Texas in Austin. Hold onto your hats, because this young man shattered both his personal best and the school record for the 100-meter dash!

At the preliminary round, he blitzed through the finish line in an astounding time of 10.82 seconds. But wait, it gets even better! In the finals, Stenberg pushed through and clocked an impressive 10.68 seconds, securing an eighth-place finish in the highly competitive Boys’ Division I. This was a historic moment as it broke the previous school record of 10.80 seconds, which had stood since 1999.

Stenberg attributes his remarkable performance to the electric atmosphere surrounding the event and the unwavering support from his coaches. After three years of hard work and dedication in sprinting, it seems his efforts are really paying off. With his sights set on continuing this streak, Stenberg is primed to take on the regional competitions ahead. So, feet planted, eyes on the prize!

Victory at the Carlin Wicker Relays!

Now, let’s shift gears to the fantastic happenings back home, as our varsity boys’ track and field team made headlines by clinching first place at the 56th Annual Carlin Wicker Fredericksburg Relays held right at FHS Stadium! Everyone rallied together, and let me tell you, the excitement was palpable.

Not to be outdone, the Fredericksburg High School girls’ track and field team also showcased their incredible talent at the Wicker Relays! They racked up an impressive total of 214.6 points – yes, you heard that right! This feat earned them the top spot among ten competing schools. Under the astute guidance of Head Coach Dan Aldrich, the girls put forth *amazing* performances, marked by eight first-place finishes and an astonishing 54 season bests.

Among the standout athletes, Madison Wright has been a force to be reckoned with in the shot put and discus events, while Rilyn Grona has dominated multiple running events. Both of these talented athletes, along with their fellow teammates, have clearly set the stage for what looks to be a thrilling district meet just around the corner, with entries closing this Friday!

What’s Ahead?

The girls’ team has shown remarkable strength, and their impressive showing at the Wicker Relays signals a promising season ahead. With their eyes firmly fixed on qualifying for further competitions, the excitement around Fredericksburg High School remains high. The atmosphere is alive with ambition, determination, and school spirit!

So, here’s to our young athletes, who are not only setting records but also paving the way for future generations of track stars in Fredericksburg. Let’s keep cheering them on as they sprint their way through the season!
