Austin’s Front Fest Returns Bigger and Better: A Mix of Pool Parties, Live Music, and Indie Films

Introduction

Austin, the capital of Texas, known for its vibrant music and film scene is gearing up for an exciting event. Future Front Texas (FFTX), the arts and cultural non-profit kicks off at the end of summer with ‘The Front Festival’ – an event that promises not only a smorgasbord of audio-visual delights in the form of music and films but also the promise of fostering a strong sense of community.

The Front Festival

Scheduled to be held from August 29 to September 1, The Front Festival shines a spotlight on the diverse and vibrant creative contributions from women and the LGBTQ+ artists of Texas. The festival, to be staged across multiple venues, is all about independent music, films, art installations, and stimulating conversations. Whether you wish to enjoy a party or immerse yourself in a performance, there’s something for everybody. While the artist nominations are still being finalized, the past festivals have hosted renowned artists such as Dorian Electra, Jessica Williams, Alok V. Menon among others.

Music Showcase and Swim Sessions

This year’s Music Showcase promises to be a delightful spectacle as it zeroes in on three performances hailing from independent DJs, musicians, and recording artists based in Central Texas. One of the more unique experiences waiting for attendees is The Swim Sessions – intimate pool parties conducted at the Line Austin hotel featuring women and queer DJs. Patrons can look forward to these chilled-out vibes starting June 27, and continuing on the last Thursday of each month leading up to the festival.

Community Engagement

In the run-up to The Front Festival, FFTX has a well-chalked out plan to keep the Austin community engaged. They have organized a series of summer events including the Hot Summer Nights Market, partnered with the Red River Cultural District, and a first-ever night market. The night market provides a spectacular space to explore the Front Market alongside a community vinyl swap. As an added treat, the residents can enjoy more than 125 artist performances absolutely free or against a flexible donation. Yet another highlight is the Pride Picnic at Pease Park on June 29, inviting people of all ages. The attendees can look forward to a day filled with workshops, pop-up shops, and the opportunity to explore The Front Market once again.
