Man Accused of Firing Gun at Juvenile in SE Austin Parking Lot

AUSTIN, Texas – An incident involving the discharge of a firearm at a juvenile in a southeast Austin apartment parking lot has led to the arrest of a man earlier this month. According to the police report, the suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Jimmy Ray Gonzalez. He is alleged to have fired multiple shots at the juvenile, who was at the time behind the wheel of her sister’s car in a parking lot located at the address 8001 S IH-35.

The Incident

The mother of the juvenile victim, who wishes to be known as Angela, alerted police that her older daughter’s estranged boyfriend, later identified as the suspect Gonzalez, had fired at her younger daughter. On inspection, Authorities observed two bullet holes in the trunk of the older sister’s white Mercedes car.

The Aftermath

The juvenile victim offered her account to the police, detailing that she heard the two gunshots while in the parking lot. Around 20 minutes afterwards as she was moving her sister’s car, she saw Gonzalez seemingly appear from the shadows, and start discharging his gun in her direction. This tested account suggests a targeted act of aggression against the juvenile.

In a strange twist, it was alleged that after the police had left the scene, Gonzalez returned to the location, pounding on the residents’ door and issuing threats of deadly violence. The police, swiftly alerted to this further incident, were unfortunately not able to locate and apprehend him during their revisit to the premises.
