The Heller Awards have become a beloved tradition in Austin, showcasing the incredible talents of more than 400 students across the region. These young artists will be performing in a spectacular ceremony on April 16, 2025, at 7:30 PM, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s ceremony is particularly special as it’s the final time the awards will be hosted at this iconic venue!
This year, expect a lineup packed with excitement, including performances by current nominees, talented alumni, and some surprise celebrity guest appearances to keep the audience entertained. Among the highlights is the dazzling Select Ensemble, featuring 60 students from over 28 different schools, who will be mentored by professionals from Impact Arts. They’ll be on stage, showcasing their skills and passion throughout the night!
As the event unfolds, it will culminate in a show-stopping finale, spotlighting two exceptional students from each participating high school. It’s a beautiful moment honoring the dedication and talent of young artists all around Austin.
The HAYAs not only recognize talent in musical theater but also pave the way for future opportunities. In fact, they are proud to be a recognized Regional Awards Program (RAP) for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards. Students who shine in the 2025 HAYAs will have an incredible opportunity to compete representing Austin in New York City come June 2025!
Along with accolades, winners will receive valuable training scholarships from organizations including Impact Arts’ Texas Arts Project and Balance Dance Studios. A total of 16 award categories and three special student achievement awards await those who have poured their hearts into their performances.
Since the inception of the HAYAs in 2013, this fantastic program has had a significant impact on over 20,000 students from more than 40 high schools. It’s more than just an awards ceremony. It’s a comprehensive platform that provides resources, professional training, mentorship, and invaluable networking opportunities in the arts industry.
