Hill Country Wineries Barrel Into Harvest With Grape Stomping Events

Austin, TX– Harvest season is upon us and with it comes the time-honored tradition of grape stomping. Hill Country wineries are catering to wine lovers and adventure seekers with an array of grape stomping events lined up throughout the summer.

The Texas Hill Country Wineries association (THCW), home to over 60 distinguished member wineries, has sculpted an engaging lineup of summer festivities. Out of these, the grape stomps, which require just about enough dexterity to smash bare feet in a bucket of grapes, make for a fun and light-hearted event, perfect for festivals.

With several vineyards hosting grape stomping events (and one even offering grape punching), visitors will be spoilt for choice. Here, CultureMap highlights a few of the standout events:

Crafting a Full-bodied Experience

• Fall Creek Vineyards at Driftwood invites wine enthusiasts for a free grape stomp event scheduled for September 8, from noon to 5 pm. Attendees can take home souvenir T-shirts to mark their winemaking prowess.
• Texas Wine Collective is hosting a unique grape stomping cum paella dinner bash on August 10, from 6:30-9 pm, complete with live music by Kelany & The All-Nighters.
• William Chris Vineyards takes an alternative approach to the grape stomping activity, offering a version that uses hands instead of feet. Slated for July 31 and August 1, guests will also gain insight into the importance of wine-making.
• Texas Hills Vineyard spreads the joy across four days (August 24,25 and August 31, September 1) for a free event complete with foot-tapping live music.
• Messina Hof packs a punch by offering guests a choice between an early brunch or a sunset buffet dinner on August 30 and 31, along with their grape stomping session.
• Hye Meadow promises a comprehensive view of the winemaking process with with recurring event that includes a production tour and tasting, scheduled for Saturdays in August.
