Art enthusiasts in Austin, prepare to plunge into a world beyond the canvas this summer. The opening of Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience and Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience is set to be one of the city’s major cultural attractions this year. Commencing on May 31, these innovative exhibitions will reside in the building that once housed the Austin American-Statesman. Art lovers can opt to witness these individually or avail a combo ticket to enjoy both.
In this engaging experience, attendees will delve into the life and works of Van Gogh, absorbing the details of hundreds of his iconic masterpieces. Key pieces include “The Starry Night,” “Sunflowers,” and “Café Terrace at Night,” along with numerous self-portraits. The projection-swathed walls free the artworks from their traditional frames, resulting in an immersive spectacle that invites guests to explore the intricacies of Van Gogh’s paintings.
The Monet experience is no less compelling, presenting over 400 of the impressionist master’s most celebrated works, including the revered Water Lilies series. Drawing inspiration from Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, where Monet’s masterpieces reside, the noteworthy Infinity Room permits guests to roam freely, absorbing the artist’s vibrant and evocative color palettes.
Fanny Curtat, Art Historian for Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet, says, “When you stand inside these immersive experiences, you genuinely feel like you’re part of these artists’ worlds.” According to her, this gives the audience a fresh and original perspective, facilitating the establishment of new connections with these iconic works in exciting and novel ways.
The exhibitions run until September 14th. To be part of this artistic sensation, visit beyondexhibitions.com for tickets and schedules.
