La Mujer 2024: A Celebration of Womxn in Austin

Austin Hosts An Annual Women’s Celebration

As part of its 13-year tradition, the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) will host La Mujer: A Celebration of Womxn on April 21, 2024, in Austin, Texas. This vibrant annual event celebrates the multicultural women and women-identifying individuals within the Mexican American and Latina/o/x/e community in Austin.

Exciting New Partnership for 2024

In a groundbreaking move, the ESB MACC has joined hands with The Cathedral gallery in 2024 to create a more intimate space for the event. This partnership aims to build a unique environment where women can feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Emphasizing Wellness alongside Celebration

The event will feature programming from various organizations such as Contigo Wellness and Austin Public Health, spotlighting mental health and wellness. This programming will help emphasize the wider aspects of celebration, bringing focus to the importance of mental and physical wellness.

BIPOC-centered Marketplace

One of the highlights of the event is a BIPOC-centered marketplace, created by Frida Friday ATX. The tie-up is known for encouraging local woman-owned businesses and fostering economic growth in the area. Attendees will have a chance to explore a host of businesses ranging from art to clothing to food and more.

Visual Arts Exhibit

Another exciting feature of the event will be the visual art exhibits curated by Monica Ceniceros of the Cathedral, a women-owned gallery space in East Austin. Participants can immerse themselves in the vibrant artistic culture of Austin, indulging in work presented by talented local women artists.

Workshops and Activities

The event will host a variety of unique and engaging workshops, including Sound Healing, Rebozo (Shawl) Workshop, Somatic Writing Workshop, and a family-friendly sound & movement session. Note that to participate in these indoor workshops, pre-registration is required.

Outdoor Activities and Entertainment

Outdoor features of the event will be open to the public and include a full day Frida Friday ATX Artisan Marketplace with TK Tunchez and Las Ofrendas, children’s activities, an open mic session, an “Open Pitch”, and on-site mental health resources by Ashwell House. Guests can enjoy food trucks, outdoor seating, live music, and a chance to win enticing raffle prizes.

Join The Celebration

The event is free and open to people of all ages. Join the celebration at The Cathedral Art Gallery, located at 2403 E 16th St. Austin, TX 78702. Let’s honor and empower the women of Austin together on April 21, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
