After careful consideration, Lisa Davis, the current assistant chief of the Cincinnati Police Department, has been chosen to head the Austin Police Department (APD). Davis is a seasoned police officer, boasting a career in law enforcement that is nothing short of impressive. Starting her career with the Cincinnati Police Department over 30 years ago, she has climbed her way up and served as an assistant chief since 2019. Known for establishing a city-wide problem-solving unit in Cincinnati, Davis has shown comprehensive expertise in dealing with both crime prevention and control.

Process and Transition
It’s noteworthy that Davis was chosen from a pool of over 30 applicants. After narrowing down the field, Davis and Jeffrey Norman, the chief of Milwaukee Police Department, were named the final two candidates. The Mayor and the city council officially approved Davis’ appointment at a special meeting held on August 6, 2024.
The outgoing Interim Police Chief, Robin Henderson, will continue in the role until the smooth transition of powers to Chief Davis is complete. Henderson assumed the interim position following the retirement of former Chief Joseph Chacon last year.
