Man Faces Assault and Vandalism Charges Following Disturbance

A man, aged 40, named Mitchell Snellgrove, near Downtown, Austin was reportedly arrested last week following a violent road rage incident. The nearest police precinct responded to a service call on the evening of August 15, just after 9pm, with reports about a violent clash involving Snellgrove allegedly armed with a knife.

The victim, who decided to stay anonymous, stated that Snellgrove attempted to stab him and damage his vehicle. Witnesses claim seeing Snellgrove flee the scene in a blue Subaru Outback bearing a Texas license plate.

Chase Bank Confrontation

On arrival, officers interacted with the victim who narrated the sequence of events. The drama apparently escalated when the suspect, Snellgrove, purportedly hit the front passenger door of the victim’s vehicle. This alleged hit and run happened along the southbound lanes of the I-35 while both were merging into an open lane as they approached a construction zone.

As per reports, Snellgrove, instead of stopping, continued driving. The aggrieved party didn’t give up and followed Snellgrove to a Chase Bank branch located on East 5th Street. It was here where the incident took a serious turn and escalated.

Aggravation and Knife Threat

Documents from the court suggest that Snellgrove openly challenged the victim when informed about the capturing of his license plate’s picture. Following a heated exchange of words, Snellgrove is alleged to have physically confronted the victim and even instigated him with a chest bump.

The victim, trying to keep himself safe, pushed Snellgrove away. At this point, Snellgrove is reported to have pulled out a silver-bladed knife and threatened the victim. He then viciously slashed the front tire of the victim’s vehicle, before fleeing the scene.

Arrest and Admission of Guilt

Following the incident, officers continued their investigation. The victim was provided with Snellgrove’s insurance details. Surprisingly, there was a familiar address which was recognized by the victim to be his own workplace. Snellgrove was spotted by the officers as he was pulling into the parking lot of the victim’s workplace in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s car.

During his arrest, Snellgrove confessed to having a knife in his possession – an Army green folding pocketknife with a black blade. Despite admitting to slashing the victim’s tire out of anger, Snellgrove denied using the knife aggressively against the victim.

Court documents reveal that at the time of the incident, Snellgrove was an Uber driver. He is currently held in Travis County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.
