Community Market Groundbreaking

Manor, Texas Welcomes Its First H-E-B Store

On Wednesday, October 9, the city of Manor, Texas, took a significant step forward as it officially broke ground on its first-ever H-E-B store. This much-anticipated development comes as wonderful news to the local community, which has long expressed a desire for a grocery store that meets its growing needs. As one of the fastest-growing cities in Central Texas, Manor has a population that has soared by 242% since 2010, reaching approximately 16,000 residents.

Growing Demand for Groceries

Residents have been vocal about the need for a grocery store in Manor, especially given that many in the community face food insecurity. Currently, some residents have to travel up to 15 miles to reach a grocery store, which poses challenges, particularly for those without reliable transportation. Manor Mayor Dr. Christopher Harvey spoke about the challenges faced by the community, stating, “There are communities around us that have to travel 10 to 15 miles to a grocery store. That’s pretty tough, especially for people with transportation challenges or for our senior community who always don’t have access to someone to take them to the grocery store.”

Exciting Features of the New Store

According to the announcement from H-E-B, the new store, which is set to open in late 2025, will be located off Hwy 290 and FM 973 within the Manor Crossing Shopping Center. In addition to its impressive size of over 100,000 square feet, the store will feature a variety of amenities that will enhance shopping convenience for customers. Some key features include:

  • An expanded product selection that focuses on fresh and quality food options
  • Pharmacy pick-up spaces for quick medication pickups
  • A large Curbside area for hassle-free order pickups
  • A seven-pump fuel station for added convenience
  • A car wash to keep vehicles looking their best

Investment and Design

The project represents a significant investment of approximately $26.1 million to build the store. H-E-B’s Senior Vice President for Central Texas, Cathy Harm, expressed her excitement for the new store, stating, “It’s always an honor and a privilege to open our first store in a new community, allowing us to serve even more Texans.” The design of the store will emphasize contemporary Texas materials, promising a world-class shopping experience at H-E-B’s celebrated low prices.

Future Developments in Manor

The H-E-B store is not the only new addition coming to Manor. The Manor Crossing Shopping Center, where the store will be located, is also set to include a Home Depot and a James Avery store, anticipated to open next year. This retail hub aims to fulfill the shopping needs of the growing population while providing local job opportunities.

Conclusion

The groundbreaking of the H-E-B store in Manor marks an exciting milestone for the city and its residents. With the rise in population, the addition of a grocery store dedicated to meeting the community’s needs stands to build a stronger local economy and alleviate the challenges many residents face in accessing fresh food. The future of shopping in Manor looks brighter, and residents eagerly await the completion of their new H-E-B store.
