Antoine was arrested after a first-degree murder warrant was issued by the U.S. Marshals Office. “This was a random act of violence,” Detective Spitler stated. “There’s nothing to indicate that the suspect actually knew the victim in this case.” The family of Martinez has been seeking answers and justice for over three years, struggling through a cold case with no meaningful leads.

Suspect Arrested after Three Years

It took until June 2024 for the Austin police to gain substantial evidence on Antoine’s identity as the suspect. Only then was a warrant issued for his arrest, leading to his capture in Temple, Texas. Detective Spitler was relieved to finally have a lead after prolonged uncertainty. “Someone finally reached out and was able to identify a witness that was actually on scene,” he explained.

Despite the severity of his charges, Antoine was able to post bond for only $150,000 after being booked into the Bell County Jail.
