Downtown Austin Hotel To Open Three New Restaurants as Part Of Renovations

Downtown Austin Sees Major Hotel Renovations

Austin, renowned for its vibrant food scene, is expecting a touch of new excitement, as large-scale renovations begin to unfold at the luxurious downtown W Austin hotel, situated on 200 Lavaca Street. The hotel’s changes will encompass a trifecta of enticing dining spots, breathing fresh life into the local gastronomy scene.

The Trio of New Dining Installations

The impending remodels at the W Austin will pave the way for three unique culinary venues. Serenade, an all-day American-French-Texan restaurant will occupy the space which was erstwhile home to the Trace restaurant. Patrons can look forward to a sophisticated patio bar or courtyard, and a couple of private dining rooms, one fittingly christened as the Serenade Wine Room. The drink selections at Serenade are anticipated to encompass beer, wine, and a range of stimulating cocktails.

Second on the roster is The Blue Room, an exclusive cocktail hub meant for reservations-only. This venue is taking over the location that previously housed the hotel’s covert bar. Lastly, the cafe with a distinct French touch, 2nd & Roast, will serve up tantalizing bites, pastries, and locally-sourced coffee, with evenings dedicated to an array of espresso-based cocktails.

The Living Room Lounge and More

As part of W’s hotel signature, the Living Room Lounge will continue to prevail. With Austin’s remake, the bar will be embracing some stylish updates, including an actual gold-colored bar, a cozy fireplace, and much more. The anticipated completion and reopening of all venues is slated for October 2024.

Notable Culinary Pop-Ups On The Horizon

Meanwhile, Austin food and drink events are seeing some notable arrivals. Sizzling hot dog pop-up Zee’s Wiener System has announced multiple appearances this mid-summer. Another attention grabber, Polish doughnut pop-up, Custard Prison, plans to host its event at the downtown coffee shop and bakery, Manana Dos.

Other Exciting Food Events and Moves

Austin’s beloved Franklin Barbecue, a venerable landmark located on 11th Street, is taking its routine summer hiatus until August 9. In other news, Jamaican food truck Mr Pimento has relocated from East Riverside to the McKinney neighborhood brewery, Austin Craft Brewing on Burleson Road.

Final Words

With this series of gastronomic innovations, Austin will certainly cement its status as a dynamic, ever-evolving food destination for locals and tourists alike. Anyone with a love for food should keep their appetites at the ready for what promises to be an enriching culinary journey.
