New bar openings deliver unique flavors to Austin’s bustling nightlife

Austin’s vibrant nightlife is continuously evolving, with new cocktail bars, breweries, and distilleries popping up frequently across the city. As summer rolls around, 15 new establishments have emerged, bringing delectable beverages, tempting happy hours, and tantalizing bar openings. These fresh attractions are promising Austinites exciting places to unwind or celebrate during the balmy evenings.

Discover Uncharted Terrains with New Bar Openings

One unique installment that promises to steal the spotlight this season is Fairmont Austin’s new pop-up bar, The Broken Coconut. Slated to open on May 18, this tropical haven will dominate the hotel’s seventh-floor rooftop bar until mid-August. The Broken Coconut will capture the South Pacific spirit, offering a diverse menu of tropical cocktails. Another major addition to the Austin bar scene is Prélude. Introduced by award-winning Chef Mathew Peters, this upscale cocktail bar debuted on May 2. Prélude sets the stage for the full-service restaurant expected to open in 2025, offering seasonal cocktails and matched dishes.

Refreshing Libations and Menu Additions

Illuminating Austin’s passion for creative mixology, several establishments have introduced inspired new beverages to their line-up. The Roosevelt Room has unleashed their Spring and Summer Featured Indulgences with four new cocktails “The Invisible Garden,” “Clearwater Punch,” “Nebula,” and “Ides of March.” Another intriguing addition is the Pickle Margarita, featuring organic Pantalones Tequila from Matthew McConaughey, debuting at The Statesman.

Meanwhile, Oaxacan- and Japanese-inspired speakeasy Trona has updated its menu, introducing eight vibrant libations on May 6. In an intriguing strategy, the bar has chosen to keep most of these new drinks under wraps, luring curious enthusiasts with the promise of unexplored flavors.

Happy Hours Galore

To add to Austin’s thriving nightlife, restaurants and bars across the city are rolling out new happy hours. Starting May 14, the newly opened Hestia Bar will launch $10 Tini Tuesday specials weekly from 5:30-7:30 pm. For simpler fare, Azul Rooftop is offering half-price tacos and house margaritas from 3 pm to close on Tuesdays. Meanwhile, Codependent Cocktails + Coffee will host a happy hour featuring $5 off charcuterie boards, wine by the glass, and classic cocktails every Monday through Friday evening.

New Books, Classes, and Brands

Austin’s overwhelming love for cocktails doesn’t end at the bar. In addition to offering an enticing city life, there are books, classes, and new brands to explore. For example, Cover 3 is hosting a “Poolside and Patio Sipper” cocktail class on May 16, providing an opportunity for cocktail enthusiasts to elevate their skills. Another unique offering comes from local-favourite Tito’s Handmade Vodka, which has introduced its debut cocktail book, “Spirit in a Bottle: Tales and Drinks from Tito’s Handmade Vodka,” perfect for novice home mixologists to try their hands at new recipes.

In conclusion, whether you’re an experienced connoisseur or a curious explorer, the city’s evolving beverage scene promises an exciting journey. Austin continues to offer a blend of old favorites and new innovations, providing a refreshing respite amidst the city’s continuous hustle.
