Bottled Water Distribution for North Austin Residents Under Boil Water Notice
In response to the recent boil water notice issued, Bottled water is being distributed to the residents of North Austin. The Wells Branch MUD initiated the distribution on Sunday morning at the Park’s and Facilities Yard situated at 13905 Thermal Drive.
Boil Water Notice Follows Water Main Line Repair
The boil water notice was put into effect Saturday, shortly after the repair of the water main line in North Austin. This precautionary measure is expected to remain in place until the water quality tests are finalized. A number of neighborhoods, streets, and apartment complexes are facing this notice, a good number of them eventually relying on bottled water distribution.
Who All are Affected?
A string of areas along select streets are affected by the boil water notice. Apartment complexes and communities are suffering as well, making the task of water distribution relatively challenging.
- The Brookside neighborhood and the following apartments: the Milan Apartments, MAA Wells Branch, Affinity at Wells Branch, Heritage Estate at Wells Branch, Preserve at Wells Branch, The Morgan, and Churchill Crossing are greatly affected.
- The areas of the Arbors of Well’s Branch and The Park at Wells Branch are also under the notice.
- Specific streets like Gaylord Dr. (1600-1753), Regents Walk, Merchant Cove, Owen-Tech Blvd, and Korman Dr and some units on Thermal Dr, including the Northwest Elementary School and Churchill Crossing, are under the alert.
- Businesses on the S I-35 Frontage Road (14002-14900) are affected, as is Wells Branch Pkwy (1600 – 2113) between Surrender Ave and I-35.
Bottled Water as the Interim Solution
Given the circumstances, the bottled water supply seems to be the most viable transition. The distribution by Wells Branch MUD has provided temporary relief to affected residents. The effort by the organization aims to ensure residents have clean drinking water during this critical period.
North Austin Water Main Line Repaired
The boil water notice was issued following the repair of the water main line in North Austin. After a period of water inaccessibility, residents now have their water supply restored — albeit under a boil water notice. This procedure is to ensure that the water from the newly repaired line is safe for consumption.
A Wait for Clean Water
The boil water notice is a standard protocol following instances such as repairs or ruptures in the water supply lines. Residents are advised to boil any tap water destined for consumption until the water quality can be thoroughly tested and deemed safe. The completion of these tests and the subsequent lifting of this precautionary measure is eagerly anticipated by the residents.
