JDRF Austin’s The OneParty Secures Over $1.7 Million for T1 Diabetes Research

Huge Success at Annual Gala

In the city of Austin, a stupendous display of community spirit came to a head at the end of April during JDRF Austin’s 13th annual The OneParty. This two-day fundraising event, which included riveting golf and pickleball tournaments at Lions Municipal Golf Course and Westlake Country Club, respectively, culminated in an elegant gala. The entire occasion attracted substantial attention in the city, raising over $1.7 million for Type 1 Diabetes research.

About JDRF and T1 Diabetes

Driving aggressive, innovative research in the continued search for a cure, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) concentrates its resources and efforts on battling Type 1 Diabetes — an autoimmune disease that causes the pancreas to cease insulin production. Any individual, irrespective of age, can fall prey to this disease, currently without cure. In the United States alone, 5,300 people per month are diagnosed with T1D, increasing the urgency of JDRF’s mission.

The OneParty Festivities

The OneParty’s gala evening at the JW Marriott started with a cocktail hour featuring live music by Kym Warer Bluegrass Duo. Guests in attendance could bid on a variety of exclusive auction items, such as premium footwear from Miron Crosby, a selection of high-end bourbons, exclusive weekend getaways, and the chance to attend several concerts at the Moody Center. In addition, a lively After Party was organized with Dallas-based band, Haywire, getting the crowd to their feet and elevating the whole experience- the real icing on the cake!

A Night of Trip Auctions and an Endearing Mini-Goldendoodle

The live auction featured an enticing collection of trips and experiences for bidders to vie for. These included a week-long Boston getaway complete with tickets to two Red Sox games (against the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers) and a private tour of Fenway Park, a week in dazzling Croatia, a lazy week in Cabo, and an outdoor adventure in Whitefish, Montana. The ultimate crowd-pleaser, however, was an adorable 11-week-old mini-goldendoodle puppy which managed to tug at the heartstrings of every single attendee.

Hope Blooms for T1 Diabetes Research

The theme of this year’s gala, ‘Hope Grows Here’, was indeed fulfilled as the local Austin community wholeheartedly rallied with generous contributions in hopes of finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. The success of The OneParty has boosted the momentum of JDRF’s mission, instilling hope and tenacity in the fight against T1D.
