Excitement Grows for Outstanding in the Field Dinner Series and Local TikToker’s Cookbook in Austin

Texas Prepares for the Return of Outstanding in the Field Dinner Series

AUSTIN, TX – The much-loved Outstanding in the Field dinner series is making its way back to Texas in 2024, and this time it promises to be a delightful treat for local food enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Set to take place at three beautiful venues—Brenham’s Whitehurst Farm, Austin’s Boggy Creek Farm, and Hye’s William Chris Vineyards—these extravagant farm-to-table meals will be served on September 28, September 29, October 5, and October 6.

A Unique Dining Experience

This dinner series, created by land artist Jim Denevan, combines stunning outdoor settings with delicious local cuisine. The dining events are known for their long, elegant white tables that stretch out in picturesque landscapes, providing a truly memorable dining backdrop. Each dinner will seat 50 or more guests in an atmosphere that feels both whimsical and intimate, like something out of a fairytale.

Representatives from Outstanding in the Field mention these dinners are rare and exclusive, with tickets priced between $385-$395 per person. Although the price tag is steep, it offers guests an opportunity they likely won’t have again, considering only four dinners in Texas will occur in 2024. In fact, many states won’t see any events at all.

Connecting with Local Chefs

Each venue will feature renowned local chefs who will prepare family-style dishes inspired by their surroundings. Guests can expect a delightful mix of flavors while learning about local food production. The dinners are not merely about eating; they also aim to educate. Upon arrival at 3 pm, guests will enjoy cocktails and explore the farm before each venue’s host gives a deep dive into their practices.

For example, at Boggy Creek Farm, guests will meet family members Carol Ann Sayle, Tracy, and Jack Geyer, who are passionate about their no-till farming approach that produces rich soils filled with nutrients. At both Shadow Creek Ranch and Whitehurst Farm, the dinner experience will also include interaction with animals that roam freely around the premises.

At William Chris Vineyards, guests can tour the winery and see firsthand how wines are crafted by expert hands. The meals will rely heavily on seasonal produce and unique offerings from each venue, ensuring that the flavor profiles reflect the land they occupy.

A Dining Tradition

This won’t be the first visit for Outstanding in the Field to Austin. The series has been to Boggy Creek Farm before as far back as 2005 and most recently featured a dinner at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden in 2023. History shows that these events tend to sell out quickly, making prompt bookings advisable.

For more details about the dinners, interested patrons can visit the official Outstanding in the Field website.

Cookbook Release from Local TikToker

In related culinary news, Austin is buzzing with excitement over the upcoming cookbook from local TikToker Ari Monika. Set to be released in October, Mi Cocina Mexicana will feature 60 beginner-level recipes focusing on accessible cooking techniques and minimal ingredients.

Monika’s journey into the culinary world began when she found herself needing to cook for her family on a tight budget. Her experiences and the lessons she learned along the way have now blossomed into a resource for new cooks who may feel intimidated by the kitchen.

“I wasn’t born an experienced cook,” Monika shares. “I made my first recipe when I was just a child, and it was terrible! But that experience fueled my passion to learn.” Her cookbook is expected to highlight delicious, simple dishes inspired by her family’s Mexican traditions.

With pre-orders now available through various retailers including Amazon, both the Outstanding in the Field dinner series and Monika’s cookbook showcase the dedication of Austin’s culinary community, blending great meals with education and personal stories. As the events approach, excitement continues to build among local food enthusiasts.
