Park Rapids, MN – The vibrant community of Park Rapids is coming together to remember an extraordinary person, Augustina Guzman Hilden, affectionately known as Tina. Born on August 28, 1947, in Austin, Texas, Tina was the cherished daughter of Narciso and Purificación Guzmán. Raised in Erie, Michigan, she graduated in 1967 from Mason High School, where she likely left a mark with her contagious laughter and warm spirit.

A Journey Through Life

After her high school years, Tina made the bustling city of Lansing, MI, her home. It was there she found love and companionship, marrying Ernie Hilden on October 6, 2001. The couple enjoyed a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, love, and Tina’s delightful cooking. Her passion for creating delicious meals was a testament to her caring nature and devotion to her family.

Career and Retirement

Tina dedicated a part of her life working at Blue Care Network of Lansing, where she touched many lives through her commitment to helping others. After a fulfilling career, Tina was able to retire, embracing the next chapter of her life with open arms. After retirement, the couple moved to the serene surroundings of Park Rapids, MN, and later to Osage, MN, where they became treasured members of their new community.

A Heart for Faith

Faith played a significant role in Tina’s life. A devoted member of New Life Community Church in Park Rapids, she found joy in worship and prayer alongside her husband, Ernie. Their faith brought them closer and created a sense of community that resonated deeply with those around them. Tina’s enthusiasm for life, paired with her love for sunflowers, reminded everyone of the beauty surrounding them.

Family and Friends

Tina leaves behind not only her beloved husband Ernie but also a large family that holds her dearly in their hearts. Survived by several siblings, including Soila Contreras of Loris, SC, and Anna Maria Hernandez of Toledo, OH, Tina shared a special bond with each of them. With siblings scattered across various cities, her impact extended far beyond Park Rapids. In addition to family, Tina was also an aunt to many special nephews and nieces who looked up to her.

A Time to Say Goodbye

On December 22, 2024, Tina passed away, leaving a void in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her. The days ahead will be a time for the community to share memories and celebrate Tina’s life. A visitation is scheduled for January 5, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home located at 608 Park Ave S, Park Rapids, MN. This is a time for family and friends to gather and share heartfelt reflections about Tina.

The funeral services will follow on January 6, 2025, at 1 PM at the New Life Community Church, located at 600 Bridge St., Park Rapids, MN. As the community reflects on Tina’s life, her laughter, love, and warmth will undoubtedly echo through the hearts of both friends and family alike.

Always Remembered

Though Tina has left this world, her vibrant spirit and the memories created with her family and friends will forever remain. As we gather to celebrate her life, let’s remember the laughter, the love, and the incredible woman she was. Tina’s legacy will continue through the lives she touched, reminding all of us of the importance of love, faith, and community.
