Georgetown and Burnet – Texas Hill Country beckons Austinites planning their retirement years to escape the congested city life. A recent report highlighted two neighboring towns that provide the perfect sanctuary for retirees – Georgetown and Burnet.
The study, carried out by the prestigious global travel website ‘TheTravel’, was compiled in March and successfully ranked ‘7 Beautiful Places To Retire In Texas Hill Country’. The study focused on analyzing small towns and cities in terms of lower crime rates, lower cost of living, and a range of attractions.
Famous amongst locals, Georgetown secured sixth place on the list. The calm pace of life juxtaposed with a sense of cultural richness makes Georgetown the perfect retreat from Austin’s hustle and cost. In addition to its placid life, the growing business prospects of this town earned it a recognition as one of the best cities for starting a business in 2022.
Furthermore, Georgetown frequently hosts cultural and social events. The recent eclectic country music festival, Two Step Inn, held on April 20-21, witnessed performances from a variety of artists including Cody Johnson and Ludacris. The city’s upcoming event, the Red Poppy Festival, spans from April 26-28 and invites all to celebrate the beautiful blooms alongside entertainment provided by food vendors, musicians, car shows, and more.
Securing third place on the list, Burnet offers an idyllic setting further north from Marble Falls. This small city with a laid-back vibe is perfect for residents desiring complete detachment from urban chaos. The town’s recent Bluebonnet Festival from April 12-14 also proved its commitment to outdoor festivities. The festival is known for bringing visitors to admire the eclipse and engage in various outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, camping, and biking.
Beyond Austin, Boerne and New Braunfels provide idyllic settings and proximity to San Antonio. Given New Braunfels’ current rank as one of the top moving destinations for Texans, it comes as no surprise that it also made the list as the seventh best place to retire in Hill Country. Boerne, offering a more secluded setting with a smaller population of just over 23,300, secured the fifth place in the ranking.
The report also notes an increase in retirees who value proximity to major cities while still being able to enjoy the tranquility smaller towns offer. For more details about the ranking, visit thetravel.com.
