Hey there, Austin food lovers! Get ready to celebrate because Sushi | Bar Austin is about to make some serious waves in the downtown area. This beloved omakase restaurant, known for its intimate dining experience, is set to move to a brand new location right in the heart of the city, making it even easier for sushi fans to enjoy their delicious offerings.
Currently nestled at 2600 E. Cesar Chavez St., Sushi | Bar is making the leap just a couple of miles away to 419 West 2nd St.. This change not only brings them closer to some popular neighbors like Local Foods and Violet Crown Cinema, but it also allows for many more sushi lovers to snag a seat. The original spot had only 10 seats, but the new space will boast two rooms accommodating 12 guests each. That’s double the reservations!
And what’s on the menu at this upscaled sushi gem? Expect a delightful selection of 17 courses featuring fresh ingredients from Japan, New Zealand, and California. The nigiri options will vary with the seasons, ensuring each visit offers a unique culinary experience.
But hold on, there’s more! Alongside the sushi experience, Sushi | Bar will introduce a new cocktail lounge called Golden Ace. Opening its doors in January of 2025, this swanky spot will focus on creating elevated yet approachable cocktails, infused with Japanese influences. And who better to lead the cocktail scene than Christian “Suzu” Suzuki-Orellana, a contestant on the hit Netflix series Drink Masters?
Golden Ace will have room for 35 to 40 guests and aims to extend the evening beyond sushi with a unique, cozy atmosphere. Expect expertly crafted cocktails, compliments of lead bartender Brett Esler, who was nominated for Best Bartender in the 2019 Tastemaker Awards. Exciting times ahead!
Ryan Stock, co-founder of Adept Hospitality, shared his excitement about the move, stating, “This was a location that we came across moments after it became available on the market. We knew it was the perfect fit for the next iteration of Sushi | Bar in its hometown.” The new location’s size, approximately 1,400 square feet, will not only enhance the dining experience; it reflects the vibrant energy of downtown Austin.
The story of Sushi | Bar began back in 2020, thanks to a collaboration between culinary experts and visionaries who wanted to share their love for omakase with the Austin community. Since then, their team has grown and included talented professionals like lead sushi chef Bryan Williams and the newly appointed general manager, John Sizemore.
Exciting news continues to come out of Sushi | Bar, as reports say they might be collaborating with the family behind the famous Terry Black’s BBQ. This partnership stems from a mutual respect for each other’s culinary talents, representing the best of Austin’s diverse food scene. How about some sushi and BBQ fusion? Yes, please!
For those eager to snag a reservation at this esteemed sushi haven, just remember that reservations open on the first of every month. Mark the date!
So, Austin, prepare to indulge your taste buds at the new Sushi | Bar downtown, where savory sushi meets innovative drinks in a buzzing atmosphere. Cheers to new adventures in food!
