Texas Serial Killer on the Loose: Two Women Murdered Linked by DNA

Austin, Texas – A Frightening Discovery

Law enforcement agencies in Central Texas are on high alert for a possible serial killer believed to be responsible for the murder of two women in Austin and Bastrop County.

The chilling discovery was made last week when officers found the DNA evidence from the two separate incidents, initially believed to be unrelated due to the six years gap between them, to be a match. This revelation has intensified the manhunt for the killer as investigators scramble to solve these heinous crimes.

Combined Effort in Identifying the Suspect

The Bastrop County sheriff’s office is collaborating with the Texas Rangers to trace the origin of the matching DNA found at both crime scenes. Remarkably, these DNA do not match any records from the Combined DNA Index System, according to Austin Police Sgt. Nathan Sexton, who addressed the issue in a recent news conference. Astonishingly, he stated that it is “relatively rare” for an individual who is capable of committing such violent murders to have no previous record of arrest or detention.

Details of the Murders

On June 21, Austin Police Department officers responding to a 911 call stumbled upon the lifeless body of 34-year-old Alyssa Ann Rivera inside an abandoned house at 2600 Metcalfe Road. The subsequent investigation revealed that Rivera was strangled and sexually assaulted. Surveillance footage showed Rivera in the company of a man shortly before her death, leading investigators to believe he might be the culprit.

This scenario seemed isolated until DNA evidence from Rivera’s case matched that from the 2018 murder of 28-year-old Alba Jenisse Aviles in Bastrop County. Aviles was found dead inside her parked car after leaving Club Caribe in Southeast Austin. She was sexually assaulted and strangled, mirroring Rivera’s case. Neither of the victims are believed to have known each other, further complicating the mystery.

As both departments continue their combined efforts, the public’s assistance is also sought to help identify the perpetrator of these gruesome crimes.
