Austin Shines Bright as Longhorns Dominate UTSA in a 56-7 Victory

AUSTIN, Texas — What a night it was at the iconic Darrell K. Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium! Fans filled the stands, all 101,892 of them, buzzing with excitement as the Texas Longhorns took on the UTSA Roadrunners on Saturday. And oh boy, did the Longhorns deliver!

Freshman quarterback, Arch Manning, stole the show with a stunning performance, accounting for five touchdowns — that’s right, five! He completed an impressive 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards, including four touchdown passes. But that’s not all; Manning also took off for a dazzling 67-yard touchdown run, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

First Half Highlights

Texas kicked off the scoring with a swift 8-play, 84-yard drive, capped off by Quinn Ewers connecting with Isaiah Bond for the first touchdown of the night. Just when you thought the Roadrunners might pose a threat, Texas forced a turnover in their own territory and promptly constructed a 12-play, 69-yard march down the field. Ewers threw another beautiful pass, this time to Johntay Cook II, extending the lead to 14-0.

Ewers’ performance was also a personal milestone, as he passed the legendary Vince Young on the all-time touchdown list for Texas, moving into sixth place with 45 career touchdowns.

Manning Takes Over

The second quarter saw Manning stepping onto the field early, making an immediate impact with a 19-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. on his very first attempt. For his second drive, Manning dazzled the crowd with an electrifying 67-yard rushing touchdown, showcasing his swift agility and quick thinking. You could feel the energy ripple through the crowd!

Third Quarter Surge

As the third quarter began, Manning was just getting warmed up. He delivered a pair of jaw-dropping passes that showcased his arm strength, connecting for a 51-yard touchdown to Bond and a blistering 75-yard strike to Ryan Wingo. In less than two minutes of game time, the scoreboard read 42-7, with Texas firmly in control of the game.

Defense Steals the Show

While the offense shined brightly, the Texas defense held their ground like a wall, leaving UTSA scoreless in the third quarter. The cherry on top came when Ethan Burke intercepted a pass from UTSA quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger and soared down the field for a 30-yard touchdown. The Longhorns were not only dominating on offense, but they were a wall defensively, ensuring their opponents felt the pressure.

What’s Next for the Longhorns?

With this win, Texas continues to build momentum, and they’ll be looking to extend their winning streak to four consecutive games. Their next big clash awaits against ULM on Saturday, September 21, at 7 p.m. CT at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. You can bet the fans will be ready to support their team once again!
