Transit Forward schedules Project Connect session and ‘Choo Choo and Brews’

AUSTIN, TX – Transit Forward, the proponent group for regional mass transit in Austin, has pencilled a quarterly update on Project Connect. The session is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28. It will be taking place at UA 286 Plumbers and Pipefitters Hall on the city’s Airport Boulevard.

The Gathering

The lunch rendezvous will comprise of a discourse on the design, building, and operational strategies for the region’s expanded mass transit system. The roster of panelists scheduled to engage, educate and answer queries include Mayor Kirk Watson, Travis County Commissioner Jeff Travillion, Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) Board Chair Veronica Castro de Barrera, Capital Metro President, and CEO Dottie Watkins, along with ATP’s Executive Director, Greg Canally.

Choo Choo and Brews

In addition, Transit Forward has organized a special event titled “Choo Choo and Brews” on July 20 to stimulate the use of the Capital Metro Rail train catering to Q2 Stadium. The promotion entails stops at three local breweries lined along the train route ahead of the Austin FC match against Charlotte. The match kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.

Prior iterations of the Choo Choo and Brews events commenced earlier in the day and integrated downtown attractions. However, the forthcoming event will be relatively condensed due to the summer heat.
