New Austin Condo Project ‘Zephyr’ Named After Iconic Zilker Park Train

Austin, Texas – The treasured memory of the Zilker Zephyr train, a beloved miniature train that ran joyfully in Zilker Park until 2019, is set to be immortalized in an all-new condo project currently being constructed on South Lamar Boulevard. The 5-story condominium, known as Zephyr, is a development by the Austin-based Pearlstone Partners.

A Nod to Austin’s Beloved Train

Formerly named Montage South Lamar, the condo project, which is currently under construction, promises to be a tribute to the cherished mini train that navigated the picturesque landscapes of nearby Zilker Park for years. According to Tayler Davis, Pearlstone’s marketing director, the rebranding is a nod to Austin’s unique personality. “Zephyr is as unique as Austin, and we wanted to capture that with the name as a tribute to the city,” Davis said.

About the Project

The Zephyr, which broke ground in March 2023, is set to comprise 182 units and is slated for completion by the second quarter of 2024. Units will include studios, single-bedroom, and multiple-bedroom options, with prices expected to range from $545,000 to over $1 million. In addition, the ground floor will feature retail and restaurant spaces alongside larger live-work units.

Extras include a black-and-white tiled pool, a rooftop terrace, a clubhouse, a dog park complete with dog-washing stations, a fitness studio, bike storage and repair stations, and co-working spaces. The property’s sales center only recently located across the street, at 2330 S. Lamar Blvd.

Expectations High for Project Success

The condo project’s units are being marketed by Prospect Real Estate, who worked with Pearlstone on previous successful ventures. Speaking on the expectations, Denise Bodman, VP of real estate sales at Prospect Real Estate said, “We continue to build on the success of our joint projects with Pearlstone Partners as their primary residential sales team. Our other joint project, Parkside at Mueller, sold out within a few months, and is scheduled for spring move-ins. We anticipate Zephyr to elicit a similar sell-out response.”

The Design and Creative Team

The design of Zephyr has been entrusted to Austin-based STG Design, with interiors crafted lovingly by Kim Lewis Designs, also located in Austin. Commissioned to create a large-scale mural that covers part of the building’s entire height, local muralist Emily Eisenhart brings her touch to the project, further ingraining it with Austin’s vibrant art scene.

With an eye to preserving local identity and symbolism, Pearlstone Partners’ Zephyr is looking to blend the past and the present into a charming and welcoming living space for Austinites.
